Mercer County Center Based Program (Free to qualifying families)

Classes are offered four days per week (Monday-Thursday) for 3 ½ hours per day. The AM session is 8:00-11:30 and the PM session is 12:30-4:00.

Both morning and afternoon sessions are offered at the Franklin Building in Montezuma.  We offer a full day class at New Horizon’s in Rockford which runs from 8:15am – 2:45pm.

Who qualifies for Head Start?

  1. Residents of Mercer County or nearby counties
  2. Age 3-5 years old
  3. 100% poverty level income
  4. Homeless or foster

Comprehensive Services, Above Classroom Education, Includes:

  • Speech, vision, and hearing screenings
  • Comprehensive health services
  • Nutritious family style meals
  • Services to children with disabilities
  • Family engagement activities

Mercer County Head Start is a federally funded program that provides opportunities for child to participate in age appropriate activities and experiences, while offering support for the entire family.

Parents are recognized as their child’s first and most important teacher.

Celina Public Preschool
Celina Public Preschool (CPPS) is a state funded program that provides school readiness opportunities for children who live within the Celina City Schools district.
