Mercer Co. Head Start is a federally funded program that provides opportunities for children to participate in age appropriate activities and experiences, while offering support for the entire family. Children attend 3 and 1/2 hours Monday – Thursday at our facilities. Morning and afternoon sessions are available.
Parents are recognized as their child’s first and most important teacher. Mercer Co. Head Start welcomes parent involvement throughout all aspects of the program including:
- Classroom Volunteer
- Parent Site Committee
- Policy Council
- Bus Aide
- Parent/Child Activities
- Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parents are provided agency support through completion of a Family Service Plan, various training opportunities, referrals, etc.

Your child qualifies if…
- Age 3 – 5 years old
- Your family income meets guidelines established by ACYF or…
- Your family receives OWF/TANF Benefits; SSI Benefits or
- Foster Child
- Homeless - Your child has a documented disability
- Limited enrollment available for over-income families
